Tsen wonsa (lend a helping hand) is a program of TSF to promote good health among street children. These vulnerable group of people serve as a compelling example of the global disparity in child health. Ghana has its share of an imbalance access to health care and there is the exposure of infectious illness, psychiatric disease, reproductive health, and general ill-health faced by street children. In the spirit of SDG Goal 3 which focuses on ensuring healthy lives and promoting wellbeing for all at all ages. With this in mind, the Tsen wonsa (lend a helping hand) project has been initiative of the Shrewd Foundation to offer a general health campaign to people living on the streets in Western Region of Ghana.
The idea for this project is to educate street children and their parent especially on basic health tips with a lot of attention being paid to reproductive health. It is the hope of the foundation that, through this outreach or project, children in Ghana will be able to abstain from teenage pregnancies and observe basic health tips like personal hygiene as the foundation supplies them with supplies such as tooth brush, tooth paste, sanitary pads, soaps and others. Another milestone achieved by the Shrewd foundation with this project is registering about some street children and their parents on the national health insurance scheme (NHIS).
