This is also an initiative of the Shrewd foundation and it is a project in support of street children to have access to health care in Ghana. The well-being of people living in the streets is the heart beat of the foundation. This project is unique as there is a collaboration between the foundation and the general public (expertise from the health sector) to organize a massive health campaign within the Ashanti region (Kumasi) of Ghana. The idea of this project is to extend basic medical services such as medical screening and health advise to the vulnerable on the streets. The underlying mission of this public health agenda is to improve the conditions and behaviors that affect health to enable people especially those living on the street of Ashanti Region to attain good health.
The relevance of the problem is such that the foundation believe the field of public health is constantly evolving in response to the needs of communities and populations around the world. The Shrewd foundation therefore embarks on this public health mission every year and not only for the practice of public health policy, but the research of public health issues with our research department. Our findings are always translated into practices and policies to improve the health of people regionally, nationally, and globally. The target groups for this project are street children and their parents as basic sanitary items such as toiletries are given out to improve personal hygiene.
